“When learning is intuitive, when it's captivating, when it's based on the natural ways that students collaborate there's no limit to what they can do." - SMART technologies

One way to integrate innovative ideas in the classroom while simultaneously challenging traditional practices of teaching is incorporating technology such as SMART technology.

The video discusses that children should learn vital life skills such as collaboration and creativity, stressing the importance of working with peers because "when children actively participate, learning is transformed" (SMART, 2015).

The video relates to my final project as it exemplifies a sharp contrast from traditional schooling practices, such as how the children learn, what material they use, and the design and layout of a room.

Specifically, the video addresses the integration of technology into the classroom as a reason to revise schools.

CHANGING HOW STUDENTS LEARN

One style of learning is collaborative/cooperative learning.

This method involves students being separated into groups with a range of interest, abilities and knowledge which increases creativity and encourages critical thinking. This model increase student performance, social interaction and motivation (Perez, 2017).

Herrera's comment represents a main counter argument to my project, that revising and reforming a space are simply not enough to be a part of students' learning.

However, it is my belief that a space that is comfortable, innovative and collaborative will ultimately impact student's learning.
